If Settings → Usage shows “Resets · Get extra wiggle room to explore Opus 5.5. Expires Oct 22.” with a Reset for free button, nothing is wrong with your account. The extra wiggle room is a free, one-time limit reset that Anthropic handed out with the Opus 5.5 launch. Here is what that wiggle room gives you and when to use it.
What “extra wiggle room” actually means
The wiggle room is a saved reset card. Press Reset for free and your usage goes back to full, either your 5-hour session limit or your weekly limit, depending on the offer. It is not extra credits and not a bigger plan; it is one refill that you choose when to use.
Anthropic calls these limit resets “an occasional benefit”. This one came with Opus 5.5, which is why the card says “explore Opus 5.5”, but the wiggle room refills your normal plan limits.
The other wording: “with a limit reset”
Some accounts see “Get extra wiggle room to explore with a limit reset (expires Oct 22)” instead. It is the same wiggle room card with slightly different text, and it works the same way.
Is the wiggle room card real?
Yes. It only appears inside Settings → Usage on claude.ai or Claude Desktop, and Anthropic documents limit resets in its Help Center. Never enter a password or payment details on a site that offers you “wiggle room”; the real card is one button in your own settings.
How to use your wiggle room
Claiming the wiggle room takes one click:
- 01Open claude.ai on the web or the Claude Desktop app. The card does not show in the mobile app or in Claude Code in the terminal.
- 02Go to Settings → Usage and find the “Resets” card.
- 03Press Reset for free to use the wiggle room. Your meter drops back to zero right away, for chats, Claude Code and Cowork alike.
When to spend the wiggle room
The best time is when your weekly limit is nearly empty and your normal refill is days away. Using the wiggle room the day before your weekly reset wastes most of it. Check your own refill time with the Claude reset time calculator before you press the button.
Once you spend the wiggle room it cannot be undone, and it does not refund past overage charges.
What happens to the wiggle room after Oct 22
The wiggle room card disappears at the expiry shown on it. Dates are shown in your local time, so depending on your time zone you may see Oct 22 or Oct 23. An unused card is simply lost, and so is the wiggle room if you downgrade or cancel before using it.
