Claude Duet reset: the Full reset card, and who can press it

By Claude Resets · Updated

A Claude Duet reset is one banked Full reset for Pro and Max users who have been admitted to the Claude Duet research preview. It is not a reset for every Claude account. Under Settings → Usage, the section heading is Limit resets. The row reads Full reset, with an info icon, a line such as Expires Nov 30, 11:59 PM EST, and a button labeled Reset for free.

What the Claude Duet reset card says

The Claude Duet reset sits in the same Settings → Usage screen as your session and weekly meters. The words on the card are Full reset, Expires Nov 30, Reset for free, and Limit resets. Anthropic’s help article Get started with Claude Duet calls it one full limit reset, which resets both your five-hour session and weekly limits, available until November 30, 2026.

The clock on the card is one instant, printed in your time zone. Expires Nov 30, 11:59 PM EST and Expires Nov 30, 9:59 PM MST are the same moment, 2026-12-01T04:59:00Z. In China that is 12:59 on December 1, and in Japan and Korea it is 13:59 on December 1. The help article gives the date November 30, 2026, and the card adds the local clock.

Staff posts, and one unverified reply

On October 25, 2026, Gabe Mulley, who says he works on Claude Duet, wrote “Yes, access comes with a banked reset!” (@gabemulley). Anthropic announced the preview on October 21 (@claudeai, second post). We have not found a @claudeai or @ClaudeDevs post about this reset itself. @edwinarbus wrote “This is just the Claude Duet reset :)” (post); whether that account works at Anthropic is unverified.

Who sees the Full reset row

Anthropic says Claude Duet is a research preview for Pro and Max plans in the US, through a waitlist. You need a Pro or Max plan, a Claude account in the US, and an invitation. Team and Enterprise are not included yet. The free plan is not included. Joining the waitlist does not put the card on your account.

Access opens in waves. Anthropic has not published the wave dates. Many people reported the Claude Duet reset around October 27, 2026 (unverified). The row in our log is dated October 24, the point at which admitted accounts started seeing it. If you were not admitted, Settings will not show a Claude Duet reset, and that is the normal empty state for everyone else.

When to press Reset for free

The reset is banked. You choose the moment, and you do not have to be at zero to use it. Once you press it, you cannot undo it. An unused card expires at the time printed on it. Downgrading or cancelling before you use it removes the card, and it does not refund charges you already paid.

Use a Claude Duet reset when a limit is nearly empty and the ordinary refill is still days away. Pressing the day before your own weekly refill wastes most of it. Your two clocks are on claude reset time.

  1. 01Open claude.ai in a browser, or Claude Desktop. The button is not in the mobile app or in Claude Code in a terminal or IDE.
  2. 02Go to Settings → Usage. Find Limit resets, then the Full reset row, and press Reset for free.
  3. 03Confirm by pressing Reset for free again. The same button can also appear on the message you see when you hit a limit.
  4. 04Do this before Expires Nov 30, 11:59 PM EST. After that instant the unused Full reset is gone.

Limit resets is not a refill for every account

A Claude Duet reset does not reset Claude for everyone. A site-wide refill would show up as its own dated row for all plans. This one is only the people admitted to the preview. The previous saved card, get extra wiggle room, expired at 11:59pm Pacific on October 22, 2026, and the button on that page is a different offer, Claude reset for free.

The public log is the Claude reset history. Whether another early refill looks close is the odds on the Claude resets tracker. Neither page can press the button for you.

Duet spends the same plan limits

Claude Duet uses your plan’s five-hour session and weekly limits at the same rate as chats in Claude. Background work, such as the morning brief and check-ins, also counts, so you may reach your limits sooner than with chat alone. That is Anthropic’s wording, not a higher per-message rate, and the help article does not give a number for how much a brief costs.

Those plan limits are the same pool as Claude Code and the other Claude apps. Pressing Reset for free on the web refills that shared pool, including Claude Code. Duet does not add a separate meter.

What is left after November 30

After 11:59 PM EST on November 30, 2026, an unused Claude Duet reset is gone. Your ordinary five-hour window and your weekly refill keep their own schedule. The help article does not promise another Full reset after that date.

If the row disappears, you are back to waiting for those two clocks, or for a later card Anthropic has not announced. A new card would show again under Limit resets, with its own expiry.

FAQ

Is the Claude Duet reset on every account?

+

No. A Claude Duet reset goes to Pro and Max users in the US who were admitted from the waitlist. Team, Enterprise, the free plan, and people still waiting do not get this Full reset.

Does Full reset refill both limits?

+

Yes. Anthropic says a Claude Duet reset puts both the five-hour session and the weekly limits back to full.

When should I press Reset for free?

+

Keep a Claude Duet reset until a limit is nearly empty and your normal weekly refill is still days away, and press it before Expires Nov 30, 11:59 PM EST. You can press it earlier. You cannot undo it.

Does Claude Duet have its own usage pool?

+

No. A Claude Duet reset spends the plan’s five-hour and weekly limits at the same rate as chats. Background work also counts, so the pool can run out sooner. Claude Code draws from that same pool.

What happens after Nov 30?

+

An unused Full reset expires. The five-hour and weekly clocks keep resetting on their own. Anthropic has not announced a replacement card.
